Gastroenterology outpatient clinic

A gastroenterologist is a doctor who deals with the gastrointestinal tract and diseases related to it. These include diseases of the stomach, intestines, oesophagus, liver, bile ducts and pancreas. Diseases treated by a gastroenterologist include not very serious diseases such as heartburn, ulcers and indigestion, but also serious diseases such as cancer and chronic intestinal diseases.

We diagnose and treat, among others:

  • Peptic ulcer disease of the stomach and duodenum
  • Gastroesophageal reflux disease
  • Diseases of the pancreas (e.g. pancreatitis)
  • Liver diseases (e.g. viral hepatitis, cirrhosis)
  • Inflammatory bowel diseases (e.g. Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis)
  • Coeliac disease (visceral disease)
  • Cholelithiasis
  • Lactose intolerance

During the first visit, the doctor will take a detailed history of the patient. During the visit, the doctor may ask about your symptoms, the circumstances under which they occur, the location and nature of your pain, your diet, the medicines you are taking, co-morbidities and past operations, so it is a good idea to bring your medical records with you.
