Haematology outpatient clinic

Haematoogy deals with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases of the blood and blood-forming system. The haematology specialist helps patients suffering from haematological disorders such as anaemia (anaemia), haemorrhagic diathesis, tumours of the blood and lymphatic system (leukaemia, lymphomas), blood clotting disorders, propensity to thrombosis and embolic complications.

Blood tests are the main tool for diagnosing haematological diseases. Even a basic blood count can give the doctor valuable information about the patient's state of health, but often the haematologist also needs the results of other tests, e.g. a blood biochemistry or smear, as well as a bone marrow examination, a biopsy of the bone marrow or lymph nodes, a chest X-ray or an ultrasound examination of selected organs to obtain a complete picture.

We diagnose, among other things:

  • Anaemias (anaemias): deficiency anaemia, haemolytic anaemia, aplastic anaemia, myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) and others
  • leukaemias: acute myeloid leukaemias, acute lymphoblastic leukaemias, chronic lymphatic leukaemias and others
  • lymphomas: granulomatosis, non-Hodgkin's lymphomas and others
  • haemorrhagic diathesis: platelet, vascular, plasma
  • blood coagulation disorders: thrombophilia, antiphospholipid syndrome
  • white blood cell disorders, leukopenia and lymphocytosis
  • platelet abnormalities: hyper- and thrombocytopenia
  • immune disorders
  • lymph node disease

During the first visit, the doctor will take a detailed history of the patient. During the visit, the doctor may ask about the symptoms, the circumstances under which they occur, the location and nature of the pain, co-morbidities and past operations, so it is a good idea to bring your medical records with you.
