Endoprosthesis, joint replacement, rehabilitation

Below is a list of procedures and the scope of treatment of the outpatient clinic and hospital:

Endoprosthesis involves the complete replacement of a joint, that is, replacing the natural joint with an artificial one - an endoprosthesis. The treatment restores the lost function of this joint and allows basic movements such as walking, lifting weights. It is the only method that allows you to walk without experiencing pain. We implant knee or hip endoprostheses from renowned companies such as SMITH & NEPHEW as well as AESCULAP and BIOMED.

We perform total and subtotal joint endoprosthesis procedures:

Knee and hip endoprosthesis

Most hip endoprostheses consist of three basic components: a titanium stem, a ceramic head and an acetabulum made of high-quality plastic. In the case of the knee joint, a distinction is made between: two titanium, implanted on the bone socket and a bone inlay, made of high-quality plastic. These prostheses differ essentially only in their method of attachment to the bone, and a distinction is therefore made between cemented prostheses, which are fixed on cement similar to a "dental filling", and cementless prostheses, which are implanted on the principle of wedging and subsequent bone ingrowth. In many cases, poor mechanical strength of the bone makes it impossible to implant a cementless prosthesis.

Hip capoplasty is a modern method of sparing endoprosthesis. This operation preserves the head and neck of the femur and thus the correct anatomical conditions. The advantage of this method is the use of metal-to-metal friction surfaces, which show high abrasion resistance, which is not provided by other types of endoprosthesis. Capoplasty is not necessarily a last resort. This means that if for some reason, e.g. an accident, there is a need for revision, the head and neck of the femur can be removed and a suitable prosthetic stem with a metal head (as in the case of a total prosthesis) can be implanted, leaving the acetabulum.

In our centre, we perform endoprosthesis procedures after the patient has been orthopaedically and anaesthetically qualified. However, that is not all, as we are ready to carry out tasks such as knee arthroscopy or hip realloplasty in Silesia. Orthopaedics in our Silesian centre is performed from A to Z!

Length of stay:

The hospital stay lasts an average of five to 10 days and ends with initial rehabilitation.

After treatment:

Following surgery, the patient remains under constant supervision at the hospital's orthopaedic outpatient clinic, from where he is referred for a three-week course of improvement treatment at a renowned rehabilitation centre.

Waiting time:

The waiting time for surgery varies from 2 to 4 weeks.

Issues:
