ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE

Danuta Kozak Rejdych, M.D.

Traditional Chinese Medicine, homeopathy, homotoxicology.

In 2002, the World Health Organization prepared a report on the effectiveness of acupuncture due to an increasing number of patients interested in this method of treatment that has been used worldwide for many years.  Not only is it used in both treatment and prevention, but it also helps to improve physical fitness.

There are many theories explaining how this method  takes effect. According to one of them, neurotransmitters are released when the skin is punctured with needles at specific points. These substances have analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects. In addition, they also improve mental health.

Acupuncture in sport medicine and rehabilitation

Forasmuch as acupuncture has specific properties, it is also widely used in patients who require rehabilitation or who suffer from sport-related injuries. It has been claimed that puncturing the skin with needles at specific points improves motor function and blood circulation. Another advantage for the patient is that this technique relieves pain and speeds the healing process of injuries, as well as enhances recovery. All these properties along with improved mental health make rehabilitation more effective and enable quick recovery.

Acupuncture:

  • Eliminates fatigue and enables recuperation
  • Improves mental health
  • Improves heart and lung function
  • Speeds the healing process of sport-related injuries (muscle and tendon sprains)
  • Eliminates acute muscle and radicular pains, as well as painful muscle constraints within a short period of time

A few acupuncture sessions combined with rehabilitation significantly enhance recovery of the patient and allows them to return to normal life.
